The important details

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

This policy explains how Confessly, a Discord bot developed by MrGoofy, handles information when it is used in a Discord server. Confessly is designed to publish submissions without identifying the submitter in the post, but “anonymous” does not mean that Discord or server-level records cannot identify who invoked a command.

Information Confessly processes

When someone uses a Confessly slash command or setup control, Discord sends the interaction to the bot. To carry out the request, Confessly processes Discord-provided information such as the server (guild) ID, channel information, the interaction and its user, and the command or form input. Confession text is handled temporarily in memory so the bot can validate it and send it to the configured destination.

The bot uses Discord’s API to receive interactions, check server/channel permissions and settings, and respond or publish the confession. Discord processes this activity under its own policies and terms.

Server configuration stored in SQLite

Confessly creates a local SQLite database beside the bot program. It stores one configuration per server: the server ID, destination type (Single Channel or Full Server), the destination channel ID when Single Channel is selected, and whether confessions are enabled. The channel ID is not stored for Full Server mode. These settings are needed to route posts and remain available across bot restarts.

Confession content and submitter identity

Confessly does not save confession text, submitter IDs, usernames, or submission history in its SQLite database. Its confession-processing code also does not write confession content or submitter identity to its application logs. The bot does receive the interaction and its user information from Discord while processing the request. The published embed omits the submitter’s username, ID, and avatar.

After submission, the confession is a message in Discord. Server members with access to the destination channel may read, copy, or capture it. Discord may retain the interaction or posted message under its own systems and policies. Confessly cannot control Discord’s retention, server moderation records, or copies made by users. Do not include information in a confession that you are not comfortable sharing with that server.

Retention and deletion

Configuration rows stay in the bot’s SQLite database until they are changed or the database data is removed by the bot operator. The bot does not automatically expire or delete a server’s configuration. Confession text and submitter identity are not retained by Confessly’s database or confession logs, though the Discord message and Discord-side records are outside the bot’s control.

For a request concerning stored server configuration, contact the developer at the email below and include enough detail to identify the server. Server administrators may also ask the operator to remove the relevant configuration. Deletion of Discord messages or Discord-side data must be handled through Discord or the relevant server’s moderation tools.

Third-party services and hosting

Confessly depends on Discord to provide the bot, slash commands, interactions, and message delivery. The bot runs on infrastructure selected by its operator; the particular host may process operational connection data under its own policies. This website is a static site intended for Cloudflare Pages. If deployed there, Cloudflare may process website request and security information as part of hosting. The site does not include analytics or advertising scripts.
